“Another marketing book,” I thought as I read the campaign in the influencer dashboard. I have spent the last six years digging into every marketing book, article, program, and/or course I could find. I’m always looking at boosting my reach to get in front of the customers I feel called to serve. After a little research into Russell Brunson, his other books, and the content he shares, I knew “Traffic Secrets: The Underground Playbook for Filling Your Websites and Funnels with Your Dream Customers” was going to be much more than “another marketing book.”
So, I applied for the campaign and was accepted. I received the Traffic Secrets Book to read for this sponsored post and a daily post on my Instagram Stories over the 30-day challenge. I am going to provide my honest feelings about this book, as I do with all products that I share with you. So let’s get into it!
Traffic Secrets by Russell Brunson
This post is so outside of my normal recipe and vegan lifestyle posts, but, I think everyone in business (regardless of your position) should read the Traffic Secrets book. I’ve found many entrepreneurs that I work with (or alongside) create amazing products, services, and/or content. Where they fall short is attracting their customers. No customers = no sales = failed businesses.
I see this book and the 30-day challenge as an excellent book study for a company. Bring your team together, read the book, and take the challenge. Discuss the work you do for the activities, implement the secrets, and grow your business.
The book is easy to read, full of examples and diagrams, and it leads you through the activities necessary to help build your confidence in implementing the tactics to drive traffic to your site/content.
The Challenge
The 30-Day Challenge guide leads you through the first section of the book. Each day I had pages to a read, an activity to complete, or a combination of both. I’m only on Day 17 of the 30-day challenge (full disclosure; I have already read the first section of the book because I couldn’t put it down.). Even on Day 17, I can see that at the end of 30 days, I will have learned the secrets and implemented the tactics to increase new customers to my site/content = boosting my reach.
I appreciate the format and breakdown of the challenge, although there are several days in a row where you are only doing an activity. It was an important activity, but I was eager to get back to reading. That says something about the content of Traffic Secrets; I couldn’t get enough.
My Top 3 Take Away Points
Since I have only read Section 1: Your Dream Customer, my take away points are from that section. I will say that I am looking forward to reading Section 2: Fill Your Funnel and Section 3: Growth Hacking and learning more Traffic [driving] Secrets!
Boosting my Reach Take Away 1: Know your Dream customer. (The book says, “The first step in this process is to become obsessed with your dream customer.”) I have previously tried to envision an “avatar” of my customer. Traffic Secrets helped me put the method to practice. By doing the activities and thinking about my past and the challenges I faced when trying to #eatmoreplants, I have a clear picture of my Dream Customer.
Boosting my Reach Take Away 2: You don’t have to create traffic, you have to identify where your (traffic) Dream Customer is spending their time, and lead them to you and your content. THIS! I thought I needed to create the traffic, but now I see it is about diverting or “detouring” the traffic to my content – like making a little road map (or funnel)!
Boosting my Reach Take Away 3: Own Your Traffic. Social platforms come and go and are controlled by things out of our control, like an algorithm. This isn’t the first time I’ve heard that I should be building an email list, but as I create content, I tend to forget to invite folks to join my conversation.
