Tahini Blue Cheez Dressing

I loved blue cheese dressing, pre-vegan, and after adopting a vegan lifestyle, I tried every vegan blue cheese. While I found some I enjoy, many use oils and thickeners. I wanted to create a whole-food plant-based blue cheese dressing. So, we fiddled a bit with the ingredients and perfected this Tahini Blue Cheez Dressing – perfect vegan blue cheese dressing! It pairs well with salads, bowls, veggies, pizza, and buffalo cauliflower wings.

The Tahini

Tahini is a paste or “butter” made from sesame seeds. We have tried a lot of tahini in our day and have landed on our favorite; The Mighty Sesame Company Tahini. It has the perfect flavor and ideal consistency. We often use it as a drizzle on a salad dressed with rice wine vinegar, and it is delicious.

When we lived in our Sticks & Bricks, we could find Mighty Sesame at our local Whole Foods, but through our travels, that has been inconsistent, so we keep ourselves stocked by ordering from Amazon – check out our shop!

Buffalo Chik’n Jackfruit Wraps (recipe in video below)

Tahini is unique in that when you add water; it will thicken, so we use equal parts tahini and water. If you watch this video, you will see that our dressing did not get as thick as it did in the Buffalo Walnut Salad pictured below. If you are not using Mighty Sesame Tahini, we recommend adding the tahini, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar first and then whisking in the water to your desired consistency.

Making a Vegan Blue Cheese Dressing

This whole food plant-based and vegan recipe will become a staple in your kitchen. Keep it in an airtight container for up to 3 days, but if you are a daily salad eater like I am, it probably won’t last 3 days.
